Kitty Kat Boom
Catchphrase
An epic race game that will make you mewl with laughter (or rage).
About / Context
Fast-paced versus racing game developed over 15 days during the M1 Nano-project at Cnam Enjmin. Players compete in real-time, starting back-to-back on opposite race directions. The twist: accumulate fuel boosts during the first half, then collide or evade your opponent in the final confrontation.
Features / Work Completed / Responsibilities
- Gameplay mechanics and 3D character control (racing physics)
- Split-screen UI/HUD system for competitive display
- Sound design and Wwise audio integration
- Game balancing and polish during intense development sprint
Highlights
Tight timeline meant surgical focus on core gameplay. The split-screen mechanic and fuel accumulation system created genuine competitive tension – players who waste boosts early face danger in the final head-to-head. The charming cat-piloting-a-fish-rocket aesthetic provided memorable personality despite the short production window.
What I Learned / Personal Conclusion
Extreme time constraints force prioritization. We cut scope ruthlessly and delivered a polished, playable game rather than an overambitious mess. This taught me the value of vertical slicing: complete one feature fully rather than rough-sketch five features.
