[EN] Ubisoft – Engine Programmer
[EN] About / Context
[EN] Fixed-term contract (CDD) developing tools and systems for Ubisoft’s proprietary Anvil engine. Part of a cross-production team supporting multiple AAA game titles across multiple platforms. Focused on building infrastructure for performance analysis, testing automation, and engine development workflows.
[EN] Features / Work Completed / Responsibilities
- [EN] Developed C# and C++ tools for automatic testing within the Anvil engine across multiple productions
- [EN] Built bot framework for performance analysis and benchmarking
- [EN] Implemented data editing and preparation systems for test environments
- [EN] Conducted workflow research and experimentation to optimize development pipelines
- [EN] Collaborated with cross-functional teams on engine tooling and pipeline improvements
- [EN] Supported multiple platform deployments (console, PC)
[EN] Highlights
[EN] Gained deep insight into AAA game development tool architecture and the demands of supporting large-scale production environments. The Anvil engine is one of the industry’s most sophisticated proprietary systems, and working on its tooling layer provided valuable experience in performance-critical systems and automation at scale.
[EN] What I Learned / Personal Conclusion
[EN] This role reinforced the importance of robust tooling in game development. A well-designed tool ecosystem can dramatically improve developer velocity and engine reliability. I learned to think systematically about performance bottlenecks, automated testing strategies, and how to communicate technical requirements across production teams.
