Images & Video
Features / Work Completed / Responsibilities
- Created 2D picking mechanism in volumetric viewer
- Implemented scale axis with dynamic base unit display based on zoom level
- Displayed color map legend in view
- Built distance measurement tool between two points in 2D view
- Developed angle measurement between vectors in 2D view
- Designed and implemented custom UI system for OpenInventor (no existing solution)
Highlights
Most proud of the custom OpenInventor UI system—OpenInventor had no native UI framework, so designed and shipped a complete solution that scientists could use intuitively. Measurements (distance/angle) proved immediately valuable for research workflows. Iterating with domain experts taught me to prioritize usability over feature breadth.
What I Learned / Personal Conclusion
Learned importance of working closely with end users—what seems obvious to engineers often confuses scientists. Protobuf serialization and binary protocol handling deepened systems thinking. Frontend/backend balance reminded me that full-stack work requires context switching but also prevents siloed thinking.
